It has felt like a very long hard road to Azra but the work has paid off! Her first publication was accepted this week! We tried to give Azra the honor of popping the champange cork since it was her first paper but Ben just couldn’t help but jump in. Since the paper concludes work he started several years ago we decided the celebration is for him too. A paper in Journal of Cell Biology is a pretty good start for the lab!
Of course, work on this scale and with such new techniques doesn’t happen without some collaborators so a big thank you to the Weis and Grunwald labs!
Here is the official reference for all you eager scientific readers:
Carlas Smith*, Azra Lari*, Carina Derrer*, Anette Ouwehand, Ammeret Rossouw, Maximillian Huisman, Thomas Dange, Mark Hopman, Aviva Joseph, Karsten Weis, David Grunwald, and Ben Montpetit. In vivo single particle imaging of nuclear mRNA export in budding yeast demonstrates an essential role for Mex67p. J. Cell Biol. 2015. Accepted *Denotes equal contribution
The champagne tasted great and we look forward to opening the next bottle. The question whose paper will be first? Judit’s or Biplab’s????? The race is on now…..
