2015 Summer Fun

Big lab news of the summer includes:

Brenda has decided to join the lab for a portion of the summer.  After a volunteering position in Brazil she came back to Edmonton to share her stories with us.  Now we all have a sudden urge to make a trip to Brazil.  Thank you to AIHS for providing the funding for Brenda’s summer position.

Biplab spent a large portion of the spring working on his candidacy and on July 22 he sat his exam.  The lab is thrilled to announce Biplab successfully passed his candidacy exam and is now officially a PhD student.

Lab Summer Fun includes:

The first lab outing of the summer was to Breakout Entertainment where the lab attempted to breakout of a locked room.  We had a lot of fun but sadly were unable to “breakout” before our time ran out so we were unable to stop the zombie apocalypse.  Turns out 4 scientists are not smart enough to follow the clues to breakout of a secret laboratory within 45 minutes.  Next time we will take Ben with us and hope we do better.

The Cell Biology Golf Tournament was held July 9, 18 holes of Texas Scramble (and alcohol) followed by a BarBQ supper (and more alcohol).

The Lab also attended the Taste Of Edmonton this July.  We had lovely weather to enjoy lunch outside and sample food from lots of different restaurants.
